workout of 1x800, 2x400, 2x200. Everything felt really easy and our splits were even a bit quicker than they probably should've been (2:55/78/79/36/37). Having this as a speed day, and having it go well, has made me a little less nervous and a bit more excited for conference than I have been in the past couple days. Such low mileage seems crazy, especially when I look at how it adds up for the week. Overall a positive day, which seems to have affected my running, something I've noticed over the past few weeks as well.

| | 6 mile run at about 8:07 average pace. Fun to have nearly everyone together again running together like during cross country, and not split up into short/long groups. Just another reason I can't wait for the fall! We also had a recruit, and it turns out we're getting 6 new freshman next year probably. Pretty crazy, but in an awesome way! Countdown to Conference: T minus 4? days

| | Another fun little work out today, basically just a chance to shake out our legs. 2 mile warm up and cool down with 10 by 200s with 200 jog in between. Coach Harris didn't even really give us a pace or set race, just told us to go out there and do it "at our own sensation"- just don't strain ourselves and end up feeling good. And we did that with approx 44/43/44/42/43/41/41/41/39/39 therefore ended up with a nice little tapering down pace. Countdown to conferende: t minus 3 days!!

| | Only running was warm up/cool down with Sarah and Mell for their 10K, but I did get to cheer them on and take splits. I'm so proud of them, with it being both their first 10k race. Can't wait to join them next year, trying to acquiesce the fact that Coach Harris is really just worried about my shin, and trying to keep motivation/morale up

Southern Conference (3.11 Miles) 00:20:49 | | Well, I've kinda gone through just about everything about the race over and over in my head and with a couple people. Not much to say about it now. My main thoughts/excuses/reasons for the result are mentally giving up, lack of motivation, and somehow I did feel tired during the race despite literally being in the best shape of my life and not having run the 10k the day before like Mell and Sarah. Coach said he thought we peaked too early and probably will adjust the schedule for next year. But I don't know. I'd like to think it was that, but definitely owes at least a little to a mental/emotional loss of motivation- not just during the race, but in these past few weeks as well.
But I can't be negative. (<lol negative sentence) We have three weeks off! and then summer training to regain a base, relax and loosen up from the racing mentality, and hopefully get back to the point where I am motivated by how much I love the sport. I never lost the love of running, just over the past month I felt obliged to attribute my motivation to something more materially, but that proved to fall through and affected my races. From now on I will remember why I am really doing what I am doing, something that is hard to keep in perspective when you feel like your sport is just masochistically torturing yourself, emphasis on the definition of getting joy out of it as well.
((I know my thoughts don't really make sense and I don't care to since this really is just mainly for me to look back at))
